This summer, I set myself a significant challenge: to ride 100 kilometers on my bike in one go. On July 19, 2024, I achieved this goal, completing a 101.21 km ride from Koszalin to Kołobrzeg and back. It was an incredible experience that I’m thrilled to share.
The Journey
The ride started at 3:32 PM, departing from Koszalin. The route took me through picturesque landscapes, with the first leg leading to the coastal town of Kołobrzeg. After a brief stop to take in the sea breeze and stunning views, I began my journey back to Koszalin. The entire trip took 4 hours and 18 minutes of moving time, with a total elevation gain of 289 meters.
Stats
Here are some key stats from the ride:
- Average Speed: 23.5 km/h
- Max Speed: 40.3 km/h
- Estimated Average Power: 141 watts
- Calories Burned: 2,427
- Temperature: 25°C
I completed the ride on my trusty Triban RC520, with my Suunto Ambit3 Peak tracking all the data.
Reflections
This ride was not just a physical challenge but also a mental one. The long stretches required perseverance and determination, especially when the wind picked up along the coast. However, the sense of accomplishment I felt upon returning to home was unparalleled. It reminded me why I set this goal in the first place: to push my limits and enjoy the journey.
Looking Ahead
Now that I’ve conquered the 100 km mark, I’m eager to set new goals and explore more routes. Cycling continues to be a source of joy and adventure for me, and I can’t wait to see where the road takes me next.
The journey is as important as the destination. Happy riding! 🚴♂️
